FIRST WORLD WAR – BACKGROUND TO UNIFORMS AND KIT
Many plays and productions feature action in and around the First World War battlefields.
For such productions we can provide full help with uniforms, props and weapons. We have recently supplied some 50 hats, belts and badges for a production of ‘Oh What A Lovely War’ and design facilities for’ Journeys End’. We have consulted on ‘Blackadder Goes Forth’ and have been involved in many, smaller, school based projects.
UNIFORMS OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR
There was some variation in the style and insignia of the uniforms used during the First World War. We can fit your costumes to the specific time period of your play. We have a full range of officer, NCO and private soldiers kit.
We can provide you with uniforms for all the main combatant nations.
As always, we will need sufficient time to ensure we have all the kit available at the time of your production. At this centenial period, WW1 is a popular source for drama, and so, the call on uniforms and kit is quite high. This is particularly so if any of youe actors present a sizing challenge!
WEAPONS OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR
We can provide rifles for soldiers and pistols and holsters for officers.
Separate regulations are available and will be issued relating to the use and storage of replica weapons. Although all the weapons supplied are only replicas, they must at all times, when not in use for performance or rehearsal, be stored in a secure, locked place.
