The US M1 helmet became the standard American helmet from 1941. During WW2 this style of helmet was adapted for wear in all theatres of operation. It was also adapted with different webbing for the U.S. Airborne Forces.
It was worn with the outer shell plain, painted or with a variety of styles of helmet net of varying mesh size, with, or without adornment.
This helmet is shown with a pair of standard all-purpose dust goggles, sometimes referred to as the ‘Carson Goggles’ after their designer, Comdr. Leon D. Carson, U.S.N.
